Mobile Computing Track Call for Papers and Reviewers:

You are invited to serve as author/reviewer for the

Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC'97) -

Track on Mobile Computing Systems and Applications.

A special issue of a new journal called Personal Technologies

(http://gate/uwe.ac.uk:8000)/csm/research/PIM/PeTe.html)

is planned with extended versions of the SAC papers.

Recent advances in portable computers and wireless

technology have made mobile computing a reality.

Today, a mobile unit user can connect via a wireless

modem to a commercial news service, or to a central

computer at work. Therefore, geographic distances need

not imply the unavailability of certain data or services.

Introduction of mobility stimulated several research

projects in the areas of operating systems, applications,

file systems and data communication.

Papers are solicited in the following areas:

• Mobile Applications and Services
• Operating System Support for Mobility
• Integration of Mobile and Stationary Systems
• File System Support for Mobility
• Wireless Protocols
• User Interface for Mobile Systems
• Mobile Multimedia Systems
• Security and Privacy of Mobile Computing
• Performance Evaluation of Mobile Systems and Protocols

Important dates:

August 15, 1996 - papers due (if you need an extension let me know)

October 15, 1996 - notification of acceptance

December 1, 1996 - camera-ready papers due
