Dr. Pratanu Ghosh has joined as a tenure track faculty in the Department of Civil and Environment Engineering in CSUF from Fall, 2011. He obtained his Ph.D. from University of Utah in Structural/Concrete Materials Engineering in May 2011. Before his Ph.D., he finished his Masters degree in Structural Engineering from University of Windsor in Canada and Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from India. For the last four years, he has worked in the project for FHWA pooled funded study and several other projects on durability investigation of concrete structures, where several state DOT’s and National Concrete Pavement Technology Center were involved. His expertise in research involves the sustainability and durability investigation of concrete structures, service life modeling and quality control/quality assurance of bridge deck design and construction using advanced experimental and numerical technologies. He has achieved several prestigious awards/honors and published several research publications nationally and internationally throughout his academic career. Dr. Ghosh has also worked as an assistant structural engineer for two and half years in a premier consultancy company in India. he is currently serving as a faculty advisor of ASCE student chapter in CSUF Civil Engineering Department. He is actively involved in professional societies and committees including the Transportation Research Board, American Concrete Institute.

Dr. Ghosh enjoys mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students to discuss about classes, research problems, or to promote involvement in professional societies. He is constantly inspired by the curiosity of students and the personal satisfaction received upon helping them. He has already developed research collaboration with faculties in Czech Republic in Europe and different construction companies namely Twining Inc., CMT Research Associates, BASF and is excited for potential collaboration with other faculties and engineers on research projects dealing with testing, design, and modeling of new sustainable concrete materials and emerging technologies in concrete construction.
